ENERGY RATING SCHEME
To ensure that ratings produced for regulatory purpose are completed to a high quality, a training program has been developed and successful candidates can be awarded the qualification Building Thermal Performance Assessment (Residential). This qualification is recognised under the Australian Qualifications Framework, and all suitable registered training authorities are able to train and test candidates. Interested registered training authorities should contact the NatHERS National Administrator.
Conformance to codes of professional practice and/or additional qualifications may be needed to be accredited as a competent assessor in some jurisdictions. The arrangements may depend on the software package selected and the requirements of the local building authority. Many building regulation authorities accept ratings only from formally accredited assessors recognised by NatHERS.
BERS Pro House Energy Rating Scheme
Solar Logic offers a number of courses for those interested in using the BERS Pro software to assess the thermal performance of buildings. These include a 4 day basic course as well as refresher and advanced courses.
Our trainers teach the use of the BERS Pro software within the Short Course in Building Thermal Performance Assessment (Residential). This course, which has been accredited for use throughout Australia, is mandatory for those wishing to submit thermal assessments using thermal simulation software under the BCA.
FirstRate5 one of three software packages in Australia to be accredited with the NatHERS protocol for National regulatory compliance which is administered by the Commonwealth Department of Climate Change and Energy Efficiency. The software tool generates ratings based on the NatHERS 0-10 Star scale for homes with 6 Stars being the current regulatory requirement for new homes, major renovations and extensions.
